"Never be afraid of not knowing"- Lauryn Hill
Before, jumping into your creative life, how was your personal life growing up?
It’s going lol! I always feel like when I’m doing good at work my personal is shit and vice versa but, I'm in the season, where I have a really good balance happening right now. I’m happy and loving on me.
Where were you born and raised?
Greensboro NC is where I was born but I was raised in Maple Heights OH.
Tell us something nobody knows about you.
I am the second oldest of 7 so I have a huge family and we all have different nationalities as well, from white to Nigerian.
Has there been a specific time that you recall not having your voice heard? If so, what did you do to challenge yourself?
When I first moved to Atlanta getting people to take me seriously as an artist was complex. Mainly because I was different, and people already knew me. It took years for people I looked up to, to really see me. I had to be outside shaking hands, boots to the ground for these tables to start to turn.
What's your tip or the best way you maintain a live/ work balance?
Shit, someone tell me lol I’m just winging it honestly and figuring it out as I go. Allowing myself the same grace I give others. Understanding that God is in control gives me peace, so I naturally align myself with the plans he has for me.
What artist keeps you influenced, and why?
Lauryn hill. Icon. Rihanna. Mogul. Both authentically themselves and I love that. It doesn’t seem like they have it all together, but they are a constant work in progress, and we’re just here for the show. Lol, I love that.
What do you do when you're not being creative?
Idk what that is lol I’m creative at heart … I’m always in that mode.
We know pursuing your passion isn't easy, but overall, how has been an entrepreneur help you to transition your life?
It’s been a wild ride! There are ups and downs but I’m enjoying the process honestly. It teaches you how to stick to something and have undeniable faith. I realize that when I go through certain situations God had already prepared me for it in a previous season of my life so that’s how I know I’m doing what I was meant to do.
What or who is your inspirational source?
My family, my friends/my team keep me going honesty... they give me something to work hard for. I just want to make them proud!
